SAECWEN OF LYMINGTON

The project brief was to design a luxurious cruising yacht with a lifting keel mechanism, capable of sailing from the Amazon to the Arctic. To bring this vision to life, the Elephant Boatyard was handpicked to work alongside designer Nigel Irens.

We have collaborated with Nigel for years, and our understanding runs deep. Working closely with such a brilliant naval architect is a privilege and enables us to offer a seamless service from design inception throughout the build process to delivery.

Every single element of Saecwen is custom built. The strength and beauty of a traditionally built boat comes from its frames, and she is no exception. Her classic construction of 28 frames overlaid with cedar strip planking, khaya mahogany diagonals and sheathed with glass epoxy has created a robust yet beautiful yacht capable of great speed.
