03 GYPSY MOTH IV


GIPSY MOTH IV was built in 1965 by Camper & Nicholsons in Cowes, and created history in 1966/1967 by becoming the fastest small vessel to sail around the world under the helm of Sir Francis Chichester. 


This legendary yacht came to the Elephant Boatyard for a comprehensive programme of restoration work, which included:


  • Complete strip of hull, primed & antifouled

  • Topsides – stripped, primed and re-spray

  • Repairs to topsides and garboard planking

  • Removal and complete rebuild of cockpit

  • Installation of jet thruster

  • Engine removal, overhaul and installation

  • New windows, deck and brightwork repainting / varnish
